Count your blessings

I have a weakness for coffee cups. I have a cabinet dedicated to them and it’s overflowing.

I bought each of them for a reason: because the color is just right, or because the handle fits my hand just right, or because it has just the right shape.

I like handmade coffee cups.

That's genuine Alewine from the Great Smoky Moutains.

That’s a genuine Alewine from the Great Smoky Mountains. (If you’ve ever seen the Gatlinburg Channel, that will make perfect sense.)

I like hand-paintedΒ Alice in Wonderland-ish cups.

Twinkle twinkle little bat! How I wonder what you’re at!

And I like coffee cups that remind me of special trips and happy places.

I'm not a morning person.

I really do hate mornings.

I have lots of them. They’re all different, but there’s something about each of them that’s special. They sort of have attitudes, or something like that. I choose coffee cups carefully based on how I feel, or how I want to feel, when I wake up. I know it sounds crazy, but somehow, my entire day is inspired by the coffee cup I choose first thing in the morning.

Lately, it seems like we’ve been surrounded by bad news, and sickness, and sadness, and I haven’t really been able to see past it.

IΒ know that even with all the troubling things that have been happening around us, we still have many things to be thankful for. The last few weeks I have been trying to consciously remember that, but most of the time, I haven’t.

Then, the other day when I wasn’t even looking, I happened upon the perfect thing to battle the glooms.

Meet my new favorite morning inspiration.

It may seem silly, but every time I use it, I am reminded of the good stuff, and I could use that right now.

Starting the day off on a positive note makes all the difference in the world. Never underestimate the power of the right coffee cup.

I love your inspirational thoughts. Hang in there. I love coffee cups also. The cups and I have a lot of conversations together!

I have 2 special coffee cups – they belonged to my sister Mary Sue. When she and her family was killed we went over to her house and of course her dishes were dirty (she was a school teacher) and those two coffee cups were used by her and her husband that morning. It’s been 20+ years and while I don’t need anything to keep her in my thoughts I love the thougt of touching something I KNOW she touched. And it dosen’t make me sad it just bring her closer to me.

Love this post. It really is the little things. I’ve been trying to meditate lately and as part of that “adventure,” if you will, I’ve picked up a few mantras. It is amazing how chanting them silently in my head during stressful times can mellow the entire situation.

Wow, what an amazing collection of cups! I have plain white ones from Williams Sonoma and this makes me feel so boring. I’m glad your new cup was just the right pick-me-up!

Wonderful cup collection! I like coffee cups, too. . .and I like coffee even more. I refuse to drink it from styrofoam, though; I have my standards!

I’m all into coffee mugs and morning coffee and sometimes I’ve been known to complain (silently) when the mug I wanted that particular morning wasn’t used for my coffee. I love the photo of that final mug in your post. My kids would have accidentally broken it by now, though.

    Welcome back to yeah write.

This may sound weird, but I get this. I too have a collection of mismatched coffee cups, and I too choose one depending on the day. My favorite is the Shakespeare cup, which I always choose if it’s available. πŸ™‚

I love your cups! My husband and I collect them too, mostly from places we’ve been ever since some friends brought back mugs for us from a place they visited. Sometimes we buy ones that we just like the feel of or artwork on, too. I totally get this post!

Having cups like these around ensures that they will seem at least half-full on most days.

I love that you have a coffee cup collection. I don’t have a large assortment, but every time I use my happy camper mug my day gets off to a brighter start. Maybe I’ll have to start adding to my collection…

This is lovely. Coffee mugs can bring such comfort for many reasons. Having them speak wisdom to you in the morning is inspirational. Thanks for sharing your collection!

The joy you can get from cups, right?? I have a few teacups that I love. One particularly special one my husband got me last year for the Queen’s diamond jubilee. Every time I use it, I wrap it back up and put it back away in its box…ah sad coffee/tea rituals πŸ™‚

I have a weakness for coffee cups too. I have so many and I just keep buying them. I really like the one in the second photo. Cute. And I love and so relate to the idea of thinking about your blessings and the meanings behind the cups. It doesn’t sound silly to me at all, because each cup I use reminds me of a time in my life or the person who gave it to me. I have favorites and ones that I’m in the mood to use. I think I might have cup-dependency issues! haha

I’m a fellow coffee junkie but our cup collection is pretty dull now. I did manage to hang on to my favorite, and it is my favorite because 1) it’s huge and 2) it says Corpse Reanimation Fluid with a hazmat symbol on it. I’m not a morning person, so my tastes run a little more to the obscene at that time of day. I’ll never forget the day my husband served coffee in it to his visiting stepfather, who has a rather delicate constitution. I think we traumatized him!

I love coffee cups, but I can’t collect them because I don’t have enough space! My favorite one is special mostly because of the person who gave it to me, although it is a really cool mug in its own right. πŸ™‚

I have a weakness for coffee mugs too. I love seeing them all mismatched in my cabinets, and I love picking out exactly the right one for my morning coffee, also depending on my mood.

I usually choose my cups for the size and the weight. My last ones are glass – because I thought tea would look pretty in them. I love your cups – especially the weighty looking Alewine cup.

I don’t drink coffee, but this story makes so much sense. I’m gonna start drinking my Dr Pepper in a coffee cup. Now I’ve got to go out and find me one, two maybe three!!!!
